Chris is an owner and managing partner at Wilkerson, Hegna, Kavanaugh & Johnston, PLLP and focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, business and energy law in both Minnesota and North Dakota. As a business owner in his own right, Chris understands the risks and passions that go into building a business. He knows the importance of building positive relationships with customers and strategic partners, understanding his clients’ markets, and following industry trends and developments. From startups to large corporations, Chris helps companies and investors identify, finance, monetize, and protect their businesses and investments.
Chris represents a broad range of clients on both business and real estate transactions, including builders, developers, sellers and buyers. Chris strives to find the best path forward on any deal —he is a problem solver who provides creative answers to push the deal across the finish line. When a company matures to the point where it attracts buyers, Chris helps his clients plan for a calculated and successful exit. On the buy side, Chris helps established companies of all sizes target and acquire other businesses or real estate that fits with their strategic objectives. Chris is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Minnesota.

With experience ranging from employment matters, contract disputes, and construction issues, Chris brings a unique business drive and practical perspective to litigation. He is always prepared to be a zealous advocate to protect his client’s business and real estate interests. His experience both as a transactional and litigation attorney gives him valuable insight in finding the best possible outcome when faced with a dispute.
Chris also has experience representing clients in the energy and transportation industry with a focus on oil and gas. Energy laws are riddled with complicated facets. Whether it is rules on developing, exploring and storing oil, gas and water or regulations on transporting and processing these resources, Chris has the personal and professional experience to handle all of his client’s concerns.
