Ford Motor Co. Site Has New Name & New Developers Announced
Ryan Companies, the master developer of the former Ford Motor Co. site in St. Paul, has officially named the new development Highland Bridge. The purchase of the old Ford Motor site was completed in December of 2019, with Ryan purchasing the site from Ford Land for $61 million dollars. Ryan has also named additional partners who will aid in the development of senior housing, apartments, and single-family row homes. The old Ford site is a 120-acre site in the Highland Park Neighborhood.
A virtual ground-breaking ceremony was held on July 14, 2020, and company executives, along with elected officials, were filmed speaking at the site. Ryan will begin construction on the site in the fall on the apartment building, the first building to be constructed. Eventually, it is expected that the Highland Bridge development will bring 3,800 housing units; 265,000 square feet of office space; and 150,000 square feet of retail space.
Ryan Companies has selected Pulte Group, an Atlanta based company, as the builder of the single-family row homes. Designs of these homes are expected to be made public by the end of July, and construction on the homes will begin in the winter, allowing buyers to close on the homes in the winter of 2021-2022.
Ryan Companies selected Presbyterian Homes & Services as the developer for Highland Bridge’s senior living complex. Presbyterian Homes & Services may buy land from Ryan and develop, own and operate the buildings.
Ryan hopes that the infrastructure on the site will be mostly developed within five years.
